Laundry Cost Per Load

Washing machine: the motor is only 300–500 W; water heating dominates. Competitor ranges put a wash at roughly 0.5–2.0 kWh/load depending on temperature and cycle. Cold vs hot is the main lever — use the calculator in per-cycle terms: kWh/load × loads/week × rate.

Dryer — keep US and UK separate: US clothes dryers and UK tumble dryers differ in type and voltage. UK examples: vented/condenser ~2.5–5.3 kWh/load, heat-pump ~1–1.8 kWh/load (at 26.32p, roughly £0.60–£1.59 vs £0.25–£0.47).
